💼 National CTE Month Spotlight: Business & Accounting at NCCC 💼

The Business and Accounting program at North Central Career Center gives students practical, real-world skills that apply to nearly every career path. Students have the opportunity to take courses such as Accounting, Dual Credit Accounting, Computer Applications, Entrepreneurship, and Introduction to Business. Additional business courses offered at NCCC include Personal Finance, Business Management, Dual Credit Computers and Information Technology, and 8th Grade Business Exploratory.

These classes focus on building strong workplace readiness through both technical and personal development. Students strengthen skills such as:
- Computer and technology applications
- Organization and professionalism
- Communication skills
- Essential “soft skills” employers value in today’s workforce

Whether students plan to continue their education or enter the workforce immediately after graduation, the hands-on and practical experience gained through these courses helps set them up for success in any pathway they choose.

Students also have the opportunity to get involved in leadership and competition through Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), where students develop confidence, teamwork, and career-focused skills. Recently, several NCCC students earned honors at the FBLA District Competition, advancing to compete at the state level in April!

Real-world learning, leadership development, and career-ready preparation—this is CTE in action at NCCC! 💪📊

Ag Ed on the Move is a new initiative introduced to the South Harrison FFA Chapter. The Ag-Business class travels to the elementary school throughout the first semester, teaching 3rd graders and leading activities designed to spark a passion for agriculture in young students. 📚🚜

The South Harrison FFA Chapter participates in numerous acts of community service each year. Activities range from helping maintain historical buildings to walking local roads and picking up litter, showing dedication to giving back to the community. 🏘️💪

National Convention is an opportunity available to all members of the South Harrison FFA chapter, with ten members selected to attend each year. Those selected travel to experience the national event, attend sessions, grow as leaders, and proudly support South Harrison alumni as they walk across the stage to receive their American Degrees. 🌾🏆

The South Harrison FFA Trapshooting team had a strong fall season and is preparing for another successful spring season. The girls team earned the title of Area 2 Trapshooting Champions, and both the boys and girls teams are working hard with goals of advancing far in districts and state competition. 💙💛

Hymax is a very good learning opportunity. This is a really great leadership camp. This shows you how you can be a leader in your chapter. I feel like this helped me out with my officer interviews and everything like that. There are so many things that you learn there compared to a normal FFA camp. If you are a freshman and get the opportunity to apply for HYMAX camp you should.

All nine chapter officers attended an officer retreat in Branson and Springfield, Missouri. During the retreat, officers participated in team-building activities and began planning events and goals for the remainder of the school year and the start of the next year. The retreat provided valuable time for collaboration and leadership development. 💙💛

FFA camp is a week-long event that takes place on the Lake of the Ozarks. Campers attend sessions about agricultural career opportunities and learn about future career paths.

Last summer two of our chapter members attended the Washington Leadership conference for one week in Washington D.C. to gain better leadership qualities. WLC allowed students to travel around the many historical monuments in D.C. and helped them create a Living to Serve plan to better help their community. 💙

The NCCC students who medaled at our district SkillsUSA skilled contests recently took a shop tour of Seaman & Schuske’s sheet metal and welding facility in St. Joseph! 🔧🔥
Students on the trip included Dustin Hamilton, Evan Weller, Thales Marshall, Levi Joyce, Kayne Ellis, John Rigney, Aaron Nible, and Kyle Christensen. 👏🏽🏅
