Mrs. Jennings' Biology classes have spent the last two weeks learning about DNA structure, RNA translation, and coding for amino acids by using the Genetic Code. This week students partnered up creating their own strands of DNA that they were required to transcript into RNA and translate into Amino Acids. Students used color marshmallows and twizzlers to build their own DNA molecules.

Mrs. Jennings’ junior anatomy students have wrapped up their first-semester units on the Muscular and Cardiac Systems. As part of their studies, students dissected a cow heart and identified and labeled all chambers, valves, and major arteries.

🧪🔥 Chemical Reactions Lab Day!
Our high school chemistry students have been exploring different types of chemical reactions, learning how to balance equations, and seeing how elements transform into entirely new substances. Today’s lab included mixing zinc and iodine to form zinc iodide, followed by a sugar and potassium chlorate reaction that created an intense, high-heat combustion. Science in action!

Celebrate the Holidays with Homemade Candies Made by Our Talented Students!🐾🎄

The holiday season is here, and we are excited to offer you a special treat that not only brings festive cheer but also supports our hard working middle and high school students! Our students have been busy in the kitchen, crafting delicious homemade Christmas candies, and we’re inviting you to purchase a box to share with family and friends.

What’s inside?
Each box contains a variety of homemade Christmas candies, made with love and care by students in our food labs. From peppermint bark to chocolate truffles, every sweet treat is made using skills and techniques learned through hands-on practice in the classroom. Each box will also come with student created recipe cards containing the recipes for each item included in your box. 🍬

By purchasing a box of these homemade treats, you are not only getting a delightful holiday gift, but also supporting our students in gaining practical skills that will last a lifetime! All proceeds will go to our SHHS FCCLA Chapter. 💜

How to Order ⬇️
To order your box of homemade Christmas candies, please contact Danyel Fitzpatrick via email by Monday, December 15. The cost is $10 per box, and boxes will be ready for pick up (or delivery within the school) by end of day Thursday, December 18.

Boxes are only available on a first come, first serve basis. Boxes will be filled in the order they are received (via email only). Once we run out, we will not be able to fill more orders. We are not able to accommodate specific requests. However, please specify any food allergies when ordering (ex. peanut allergies).
