📉 Tidbit Tuesday: Enrollment & State Funding
Over the past 5 years, our district has experienced an enrollment decline of 128 students.
Why does this matter?
Missouri’s state funding formula is directly tied to student enrollment. Using the state’s SAT funding measure, that decline equates to more than $900,000 in revenue the district would have received this year alone if enrollment had remained steady.
This is a significant loss of funding that impacts our ability to support staff, programs, and services for students—while fixed costs like building operations and transportation remain largely unchanged. Transparency around these numbers helps explain the financial challenges school districts face.

Under Senate Bill 727, Missouri law sets minimum salary requirements for teachers, including required annual increases.
🔹 Missouri’s minimum teacher salary is $40,000.
🔹 A teacher with a Master’s degree and 10 years of experience will have a minimum salary of $47,000 next school year, increasing to $48,000 the following year.
🔹 After that, Senate Bill 727 requires annual minimum salary increases using the lesser of 3% or the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
📅 On April 7, voters will see Proposition C.A.R.E. (Community Action Reinvesting in Education) on the ballot. If approved, funds would be used to help meet these state-mandated salary requirements while also recruiting and retaining highly qualified staff to support students and classrooms.

South Harrison Co. R-II will have an AMI day Tuesday, December 2, 2025 due to ongoing winter weather and road conditions. Pre-K and Elementary students should complete packet work sent home during Parent Teacher Conferences while Middle and High School students should complete work posted on Google Classroom. Teachers will be available through email for any questions and support.
South Harrison Co. R-II will have no school on Monday, Dec 1 due to dangerous country route roads, campus sidewalks and parking lots, along with tomorrow's snow forecast.
