🌟 Tidbit Tuesday 🌟
📌 Proposition C.A.R.E. will appear on the April 7 ballot and proposes a $0.75 tax levy increase.
What does that mean for our district?
▶️ Estimated to generate approximately $687,500 in additional revenue
▶️ Revenue calculation:
(91,668,038 ÷ 100) × 0.75 = new tax levy revenue
▶️ $91,668,038 represents the total assessed value of property in the district
💡 The additional revenue would be used to:
✔️ Attract and retain highly qualified staff
✔️ Maintain and support current educational programs
✔️ Repair and maintain school building roofs and HVAC systems
This revenue would help offset state and federal funding reductions due to declining enrollment within the district.
🗳️ Make a plan and vote on April 7. Informed participation matters for our schools and our community. 💙🏫

📉 Tidbit Tuesday: Enrollment & State Funding
Over the past 5 years, our district has experienced an enrollment decline of 128 students.
Why does this matter?
Missouri’s state funding formula is directly tied to student enrollment. Using the state’s SAT funding measure, that decline equates to more than $900,000 in revenue the district would have received this year alone if enrollment had remained steady.
This is a significant loss of funding that impacts our ability to support staff, programs, and services for students—while fixed costs like building operations and transportation remain largely unchanged. Transparency around these numbers helps explain the financial challenges school districts face.
🗳️ Reminder: Proposition C.A.R.E. (Community Action Reinvesting in Education) will be on the April 7 ballot. Make a plan to vote and have your voice heard.

📌 Tidbit Tuesday: Missouri Teacher Salary Requirements
Under Senate Bill 727, Missouri law sets minimum salary requirements for teachers, including required annual increases.
🔹 Missouri’s minimum teacher salary is $40,000.
🔹 A teacher with a Master’s degree and 10 years of experience will have a minimum salary of $47,000 next school year, increasing to $48,000 the following year.
🔹 After that, Senate Bill 727 requires annual minimum salary increases using the lesser of 3% or the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
📅 On April 7, voters will see Proposition C.A.R.E. (Community Action Reinvesting in Education) on the ballot. If approved, funds would be used to help meet these state-mandated salary requirements while also recruiting and retaining highly qualified staff to support students and classrooms.
📘 Staying informed helps our community understand how state mandates and local decisions impact school funding.

💡 Tidbit Tuesday: Understanding Property Taxes
✔️ Taxes are based on assessed value, not market value.
✔️ Residential property is assessed at 19% of market value.
🏠 Example:
A home with a $100,000 market value has an assessed value of $19,000.
($100,000 × 19% = $19,000)
📊 What does a $0.75 tax levy increase mean?
$19,000 ÷ 100 × $0.75 = $142.50 per year
🗳️ Reminder: Proposition C.A.R.E. (Community Action Reinvesting in Education) will be on the April 7 ballot.
