English III students completed 8-10 page argumentative research papers at the end of third quarter. The top five were submitted to SHHS alum Charlie Pettijohn who selected the top three for the Ruth Hessemyer Excellence in English award. Winners are (left to right): 1st place, $500, Jackson Thomas; 2nd place, $300, Allie Slagle; 3rd place, $100, Channing Sherrill; and honorable mention, Morgan Bottcher and Tenley Weller. These students will be recognized at our Academic Awards night Wednesday at 6pm.
