The South Harrison R-II School District is encouraging families to schedule Preschool and Kindergarten screenings for children enrolling in the 2026–2027 school year.
Screenings will take place on Monday, April 6, 2026, and Friday, April 24, 2026, at the South Harrison Early Childhood Center during regular school hours. Each screening lasts approximately 30 minutes and evaluates a child’s development in motor skills, concepts, and language. Parents are asked to remain with their child throughout the screening process.
These screenings are designed for new 4-year-old Preschool students and incoming Kindergarten students. In addition, South Harrison would like families to know that the district also offers a 3-year-old Preschool program. Families interested in enrolling a 3-year-old are encouraged to attend, pick up enrollment forms, and begin the process.
To ensure a smooth enrollment, families should bring the following required documents prior to the start of the school year:
Child’s birth certificate
Up-to-date immunization record
Proof of residency (such as a utility bill, lease agreement, mortgage statement, or bank statement)
Early childhood education plays a vital role in setting students up for future success, and these screenings are an important first step.
