South Harrison FFA State Fair Results

South Harrison FFA Chapter had a very successful Missouri State Fair.  Students were showing livestock and exhibiting items in te FFA Building during the fair August 8-18.

James Ballard was awarded the Grand Champion Restored Tractor for his work on his John Deere 1949 Model A tractor.  He was also awarded the Grand Champion Agricultural Mechanics award.  James exhibited his crossbred steer and placed 2nd in class.

Austin Lasher was awarded second place in the junior lamb carcass show and placed 1st in the On-Foot Class.  He was the winner of the Junior Carcass Sweepstakes with a prize of $100.  With this, the South Harrison Chapter was awarded the Chapter Carcass Sweepstakes winner with a prize of $500 from the Missouri Soybean Association.

Erik Helton showed for his first year with his crossbred heifer.  He placed 1st in his class and was in the ring for the championship drive.

Anderson Rogers exhibited swine.  He places 5th in class with his Hampshire gilt.  He also sent items to the FFA Building including corn stalks that received a silver ribbon and soybean plants that received a gold ribbon.  In addition to exhibiting, Anderson presented to fair-goers about his experiences showing swine in the fair's "Let's Talk Livestock" program.

Kate Rogers also exhibited swine.  She placed 3rd in class with her Yorkshire gilt.  At the FFA Building, Kate exhibited a barn quilt woodworking project that received a gold ribbon.

Larissa Eivins exhibited for the first time at the Missouri State Fair with her swine.  She showed both Tamworth and Poland China pigs.

Kaycee Vandiver also sent a barn quilt woodworking project that received a purple ribbon.  Kaycee showed swine during the fair and won the Reserve Champion Lightweight Gilt.

Wyatt Ellis exhibited both swine and goats.  He earned 1st in class and 4th in class with his goats.  He also earned the Grand Champion Junior Percentage Doe in the FFA division.

Jared Milligan exhibited in the beef cattle barns.  He placed 1st in his Maintainer division.
