Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

(PBIS)

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports is a decision-making framework used to improve important academic and behavioral practices for all students.  The school-wide plan helps to establish a positive school climate, which in turn will enable staff and students to achieve the goals of the school.  The SHES staff will teach common and consistent social and behavioral skills so the focus can be on teaching and learning rather than day to day operations.  Time and energy will be spent recognizing and acknowledging students meeting the building expectations rather than focusing on negative behaviors.
