Signup for Community Connection (Text Alerts)

July 20, 2015

Sign up! -it's a free service  being offered by Farmers Bank of  Northern Missouri,  N.A.,  to  anyone  who  would  like  to  receive  text messages  on  their  cell  phone concerning  community emergencies, school   information  or  the   summer   ball leagues.

  • Schools: If you register your phone for the "School Information" messages, then if school is dismissed due to bad weather, you will receive a text message from the school saying that school has been can celled for the day.
  • Emergency Services: If you choose to receive the "Community Emergencies" messages, you will re ceive a text message alerting you, for example, that a tornado watch (or warning) has been issued for Harri son County from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that day. Wouldn't it be nice to know that information if you were out of town, and your children were home with a babysitter so that you could alert them to be on the lookout?
  • Community Sports: This is another choice when you set up your account. If you have a child or relative playing on a summer softball/baseball league, a des ignated coach can notify you with a text message to your cell phone if your game has been cancelled or delayed due to rain. Wouldn't it be nice to have this service if you've already left home to drive to the out of town game? Your cell phone would alert you that you have a new text message, and you could read the message and see that the game has been called off. That should save you from driving all the way to the opposing team's town when the game has been cancelled.

Just stop by any Farmers Bank location, and we will help you register online, or visit the website at:

http://www. onlinefarmersbank.com

Note to U.S. Cellular Customers: please see information on back side of this flyer.

Step 1: You can test your mobile phone to make sure it is text-enabled. You will enter your name, zip code, time zone, mobile phone number and mobile carrier on a web site. You will choose which message categories you want to receive ( either the school information or commu nity emergencies, or both ) . You can elect to enter your email address if you want Community Connection in formation via email. It is also an option to receive mes sages by email only, and not on your mobile phone.

Step 2: A 5-digit Authorization Code will be immediately sent as a text message to your mobile phone ( or to your email address if you only want email ) . When you re ceive the code, your mobile phone is confirmed to be text enabled.   You must type the 5-digit code in the Authorization box on the sign-up page and press " Enter. " Once you have entered the 5- digit code, you have completed the sign up process. It is very easy.

To U.S.  Cellular  Customers: On some plans, you may need to have your cell phone's email  address enabled in order to receive Community  Connection text messages. There is an added cost of $1.95 per month charged by U.S. Cellular for this service.
