South Harrison Joins the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP)

December 06, 2012

South Harrison has become part of the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) this year.  The program is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation who also provides grants to help purchase NASP equipment.  The program is designed to give all students grades 4-12 the opportunity to participate in archery in the physical education class.  We are almost finished with one week of the unit here at the High School and most of the kids are excited about it and enjoy shooting.
The equipment can also be used for a competitive archery team that competes with other NASP schools.  Along with the Department of Conservation other people have helped get our program get off to great start.  Mr. Terry Baker and the maintenance crew helped to install our arrow curtain in the gym and Mr. Eric Sweat and his woodworking class made our ground quivers.  Currently South Harrison has a high school and a junior high archery team that will be competing against other schools starting at the end of January.
For more information about the new program visit Ms. Knorr’s web page on the South Harrison website: /vnews/display.v/ART/50356b38cbee9
